Thought it
was about time I blogged again. Its
been one of those weeks. Back at work,
sick, trying to catch up on sleep, etc.
But you
know, that’s not what I wanted to share with you all. I actually wanted to share some statistics with you. You know seeing pics is one thing, but
getting hit between the eyes with some statistics, that’s another. And even for me, I found it mind blowing.
Lets start
with Australia’s statistics hey.
Population: 20.5 Million
Age: 0-14 19%
15-64 67%
65+ 14%
Median
age: 37
AIDS: 14,000 living with it
200 die of it per year
Religion: 80% Christian
Cambodia’s
statistics are
as follows
Population:
13,995,904
Age: 0-14 34%
15-64 62.4%
65+ 3.6%
Median
age: 21.3
AIDS: 170,000 living with it
15,000 die per year
Religion: 95% Buddhist
30 years
ago, Pol Pot devastated a nation. 3
million people died in 4 years, in Cambodia.
40,000
amputees.
Thailand’s
statistics are
as follows
Population:
65,068,149
Age: 0-14 21.6%
15-64 70.1%
65+ 8.2%
Median
age: 32.4
AIDS: 570,000 living with it
58,000 die per year
Religion: 95% Buddhist
There are
somewhere between 800,000 and 3,000,000 prostitutes in Thailand, with 30% under
18 years old. The reason for the variance
in figures, is due to the fact that prostitution is illegal in Thailand.
700,000
children from BURMA are sold into slavery each year. And the worst thing about it is, that most parents believe that
their children are going to a better life. A safer life, with good people.
Hi Dee. Just came over to check out your blog from Scrap of Faith. Those statistics are so sad. We have such a blessed life here in Australia and seldom think about the rest of the world. Thanks for opening up my eyes Dee.
